| historical background |

The Hitlerjugend (HJ) knife was introduced in 1933 as a standard-issue model for members of this youth organization in Germany. Inspired by traditional German dagger designs, it features a clean profile, a distinctive grip, and the HJ diamond emblem set into the handle. Worn as part of the uniform, it reflects the ideological and paramilitary environment leading up to World War II.

Between 1939 and 1945, the HJ knife was carried during activities, gatherings, and organizational service. As a recognizable part of the uniform, it served as a symbol of membership and identity. Produced in large quantities, it exists in numerous variations depending on maker, production period, and markings, making it a well-known and widely collected item within German WWII militaria.
