Tank destruction - Panzervernichtungsabzeichen

Instaured by Adolf Hitler himself on december the 18th 1943, it came in 2 classes: the silver one for knocking down one tank with individual weapons like hand grenades, magnetic mines or panzerfaust and the gold one for destroying 5 tanks. Until now two types have been identified. The early type awards bear a tank (Panzer Mk IV) with silver wash, where later awards had the same blackened tank as the silver class. The gold insignia was attribuated 421 time for a total of 2105 tanks ! This sample consists in magnetic PzIV tank on a mat gold cellon braid and a rectangle plate with 3 prongs. Grey uniform lining to the back. Traces of hand stitching on a tunic. Evident traces of having been worn. GC. Very rare.
