Superb Gebirgsjäger officer's headgear of the Wehrmacht, in the Alter Art style. This headgear was very popular among officers, and after its official discontinuation, many officers continued to have it made. The woven insignia were gradually replaced by hand-embroidered ones, and the leather visors by visors of vulcanized fiber, as exemplified by this particular piece. The headgear is made of field gray knitted fabric. It features a substitute sweatband, beautiful hand-embroidered insignia, a metal cockade, and a metal edelweiss. GC-VGC.
