The Reichsleitung refers to the national central leadership of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, representing the highest command level of the party within the Reich. It served as the main political and administrative decision-making center from which general directives were issued to all party structures across Germany.
Within the NSDAP organizational system, the Reichsleitung comprised the party’s leading national offices, departments, and officials. It supervised all subordinate levels (Gaue, Kreisleitungen, Ortsgruppen) and coordinated the various political, administrative, and ideological branches of the movement. After the NSDAP came to power in 1933, its importance increased further, becoming a key governing body within the structure of the National Socialist state.
Objects, insignia, documents, and effects associated with the Reichsleitung rank among the most sought-after categories of German WWII political militaria. Closely linked to the highest level of NSDAP leadership, they reflect the internal functioning of the party’s central command and occupy a prominent place in specialized collections dedicated to the leadership structures of the Third Reich.
